History:
Claudia Marina was the toast of the Las Vegas banking sector, specializing in casino banking and finacing of large properties on the Strip. It was a long way from her old traditional LDS family and her siblings. Neither Claudia or the family talk much about each other, it was as if at one day their oldest daughter was a completely different person. There are rumors around her small northern Nevada home town that she was possessed by some kind of evil demon, but many dismiss that as the ravings of religious fundamentalists vilifying a girl for leaving the community. After the Vegas city council was rocked by a cocaine scandal that saw several of the members sent to Federal Prison, certain powerful forces convinced Claudia to run for office for the good of the city. Or she manipulated her buisness contacts into believing that she would be their woman in office only to betray them once she got there. It depends on your point of view. Which seems to be the one concensus about Claudia. Whatever deals she made to get there, Councilwoman Marina is popular with her constiuants and seems to have a geniune love for the city. Smart money within Vegas politics tips her as a future mayor, or perhaps even Nevada governor.
Almost 1800 years ago a powerful Patrician woman managed to get her husband, a general of the legions in Britania named Emperor. Though she was dutifully obediant to her husband, there were rumors within the forum that she was the real power behind the Emperor. Unfortunately those who started such rumors soon found themselves dead, often in unspeakably painful ways. Claudia was the daughter of a good family married off to the son of a good family who was a good match, if not the brightest citizen of the Empire. Yet despite some of his rather obvious short comings he seemed to rise through Roman society, and even won several major battles against the Celts in Britiania. Or rather Claudia did, pullign the strings of her idiot husband. Using a mix of Roman magic, and knowledge picked up in the dark isles, she was able to virtually gain control of the entire civilized world. Her reign ended in a certiman circle with another powerful wizard, and shortly after her death the Praetorian Guard murdered the now incompetent Emperor.
