Description/History
Mark doesn't speak much about his pre-Embrace history - he was 'discovered' in Germany as WWII was winding to a close, pursuing Dietrich Von Der Erde, a Gangrel ancilla who'd maintained a public identity as a member of the Algemeine-SS and Nazi Party official during the war. The pair of Toreador from Denmark working to regain art treasures lost in the Nazi regime were surprised when the uneducated fledgeling managed to destroy their Gangrel contact. After carefully managing to convince Mark they weren't threats, they took him to occupied Berlin to try and sort things out. His name and accent suggested he was English, although his German and Italian were flawlessly unaccented. And equally natural as the American accent he affects in the modern nights.

Wilhelm Waldburg, Prince of Berlin, guessed (correctly) that the neonate had slain none other than his own sire and deemed him little better than a common Diablerist. Staked in Elysium after an unsuccesful attemt to escape the basement he was held in, he was turned over to the city's Tremere Primogen, Maxwell Ldescu for 'interrogation and testing'.

The Tremere found it moderately difficult to extract any information out of Mark, even with judicious use of Dominate. Instead of destroying him in the end, Ldescu handed the Gangrel over to his own sire. Then-Tremere Justicar Karl Schrekt. Who, in turn, pawned him off on Xavier as part of settling some unspoken debt

The Gangrel Justicar used Mark for several decades as a servire before actually formally declaring him an archon - cutting the neonate's teeth on 'black bag' operations where a young Kindred served best for infiltration. He operated for many years infiltrating anarch gangs on in Europe and both US coasts, peddling himself as ex-US military Special Forces, occaisionally a sniper for a clandistine agency like the CIA, with highly specialized skills and knowledges perfect for striking back at their elders. And weeding out the gangs on the verge of turning to the Sabbat (and the ones that already had) to Xavier's brute squads. Setting up rooftop surveilance in Sabbat cities or Camarilla ones under siege, or infrequently, places infested with the Lupines Xavier relished hunting.

Where he actually came by the specialized skills and knowledges that have served him so well is anyone's guess. The rumor mill points to some British commando training during the War - possibly even in the nascent Special Air Service. In true clandestine fashion, Mark has never gone on record either way.

When Xavier made his proclamaition to the Inner Circle and withdrew his support from the Camarilla, Mark made a big show of storming off to follow his commander into the ranks of autarkis. Although he's, notably, managed to avoid the mysterious fates that have befallen many of Xavier's former archons - speculated to be Camarilla assaults to keep Sect secrets out of Sabbat hands - and occaisionally passes through a city, managing to get wrapped up in the same kinds of operations he performed when he still held Sect office.

The truth is that he never really 'withdrew' from the sect at all. Petrodon, the then-Nosferatu Justicar, recruited his service in those few nights of conscientious deliberation before Mark took his steps away from the Ivory Tower. Originally collecting information as to Xavier's potential motivations in leaving the Camarilla, he broadened his scope back to much of what he was doing before (with the notable exception of Lupines except when necesary), playing up the 'shiftless Gangrel' stereotype to the hilt.

Suddenly decomissioned along with the rest of Petrodon's archons by his sucessor, Cock Robin, it's believed that Mark has taken up employment with another Justicar, possibly Jaroslav Pascek or Anastasz di Zagreb. The former is more likely, considering the Gangrel's rough treatment at Tremere hands early in his unlife.
