General

We abide by all of IMC's rules and requirements. By posting in this room, you acknowledge that you have agreed to and abide by these rules. While we all want to have fun, this community does not make exceptions for laziness or neglect.

·         First please note: In accordance with the site rules of IMC the room's homepage is the property of the room, and as such will not be removed should the webmaster decide to vacate the position until a new homepage is in place.

·         Also in accordance with the rules of IMC, we require use of brackets when speaking Out Of Character (OOC):

o        For general out of character comments use parenthesis – ((Example))

o        For making In Character/Out of Character comments use square brackets – [[Example]]

·         These are the acceptable uses of brackets on IMC please respect that when making posts in the room.

Please refrain from Meta-gaming and God-moding. No one likes it when people use too much out of character (OOC) knowledge, or doesn't play fair.

Do not announce spoilers, with or without warnings. Do not rave about the newest episode in the room, as people might not have seen it yet, so there will be a no spoiler rule into effect of one month. We all know that we love Stargate and its spin-offs and are excited about new episodes but for those people who don't get to see them right away it’s not fair to ruin that episode for them; there will be a specific spoiler section on in the Forum if you feel the need to share. This also goes for books, movies, and other television shows not only SG-1 or Atlantis.

Ratings

Some scenes may contain violence, nudity and coarse language that may not be suitable for younger players. Player discretion is advised. This room is rated "M" for Mature.

Images

Picture limits are 350X350 pixels and under 50K, no nudity or exposed parts that should be covered. If you don't see it on the show (in most episodes) don't post it in this room. Also, please refrain from using anime or cartoon pictures or drawings; there is no shortage of live models and actors to choose from. If you are uncertain about a picture, ask a staff member.

Language and Violence

Cursing is allowed, but don't make it every second word, exaggeration will be dealt with accordingly. Use common sense where cursing is involved, this applies as much OOC as it does for IC.

We understand that there has to be some level of violence in a room based on the Stargate series, but detailed, gory descriptions are not necessary. Keep the spirit of the show in mind at all times.

Sexual Content

We understand that there are going to be situations, or romance involved such as in life, beyond romance and normal public displays of affection, take it to PM's or a separate PR.

Respect

We really shouldn't have to say this but please do not flame other chatters, if you have a problem please bring it to the staff, use the chain of command. If your problem is with a staff member please keep a log of your complaint and the incident and bring it to another staff member, the Host, and/or the appropriate Conflict & Mediation person before the problem gets out of hand. If your problem is with another chatter, if you don't like their RP style, or have a problem with the person themselves, please do not air it in the room or on the message board just ignore that person. IMC has this great little function called "Ignore" for this reason.

·         Please have the courtesy to give a warning before you cut a role-play short and leave the room if at all possible, unless its an absolute emergency, its rude to just say 'Good bye' and leave your role-play partners hanging.

·         If there is a fair amount of role-play happening in the room and people have commented that the OOC chatter is too distracting, please try to keep the OOC chatter to a minimum so as not to disrupt other chatters who are concentrating on the scene at hand. This includes the IC/OOC banter; while entertaining, too much of a good thing is not.

·         Please refrain from making passive aggressive comments or saying that you're bored, and/or want role-play... Fifty times. Please, only ask for play a few times at most, and if no one responds? Then ask someone else. It's not all that hard, and constantly seeing ((*bored*)) or ((*wants RP*)) or ((Hello?)) fifty times in a row gets annoying and could make people uneasy as well as place the offending person in ignore. Private Message someone or ask off site, if you're interested in play.

·         Please do not assume that if people are in the room that they are ready to role-play.  Some players do come in just to chat or hang out.  The room is as much a community as a role-playing room and anyone is welcome to come in the room at any time.

o        This also includes starting a scene with people with whom you did not ask if they wanted to play.

·         Please refrain from testing/showcasing your pictures, and tags in the room constantly; IMC has features that allow you to do so without flooding the room.

·         IMC has given rooms the ability to have a Message Board hosted on the site.  The use of this message board is NOT required by any role-player, it has been given to the room as a courtesy.  However, for those players that do wish to use the Message Board, please keep all negative or passive aggressive comments off of the board.  The use of the Message Board is for is for people to stay in touch, and to have creative idea exchanges only.  Room business, criticism (constructive or otherwise), negative or passive aggressive comments, or problems, will be handled through email only

·         Lastly DO NOT harass any of the staff members regarding applications. Applications are dealt with in the order they are received.

o        Note: That is not to say that if you have not heard word about your application within a reasonable time frame that you cannot email the staff as to its progress, this only means that you cannot bug the staff if you only sent it in a day or two (and especially not minutes) before. The staff members are only human and lead lives outside of the chat site just as every chatter on the site does and sometimes people miss things.

Dice

"The dice roller is your friend but don't abuse it!"

Dice are used on a purely voluntary basis. If you want to use dice, always ask your RP partner first. Assumptions in either direction can cause tension in your RPs, and we want to avoid that. For the System we the staff feel that a percentage system would be best suited to the room.

Room Staff

And to make this one perfectly clear, the Host(s) and Staff are not exempt from any of the room’s rules, if the staff is caught violating any of the rules they will be suspended of staff privileges and suffer the same consequences as any other chatter.

Character Rules

Character applications can be done using the application form.

Original Characters:

There is a trial period of one month before final applications need to be made.  We ask that all players take the time to test play before making the application so that you can get to know the character before application, as well as getting to know the other players in the room.  Even if a player feels the need to apply for the character before playing (as many of us do) please join us in the room for some good-natured fun and get to know the other players first to make certain that you as a player fits in with the group.  The reason we ask this is so to have the least amount of tension in the room as possible when people (both new and established players) come in.  If players do not get along well there isn’t going to be much in the way of role-play opportunities, which is regrettable but it happens.  We are a very friendly and accommodating group and welcome new players eagerly, but we do ask that new players make an effort to get to know other players and to get into play as well (as stated/implied in the above rules passive aggressive comments are not an effort and tend to get people ignored).  Our main concern is the role-play and everyone having fun, not on the application itself.  However, that being said we do ask that players make an effort in their applications.  If you have questions or are not sure of what you can play, ask a staff member, or even another chatter, we are all more than willing to help.

Canon Characters:

Canon characters need host/staff approval before being played in the room. Everything above applies with Canon characters as well as with Original characters, please make an effort in getting to know the other players and with your applications.

Another note on Canon Characters, central characters should be played at least once a month, unless it is noted that the player is on LoA (Leave of Absence). We realize that real life comes first, but we want people who have central canon characters to make an effort, and we feel that at least one hour, once a month, is not all that much to ask. And please if you are playing a Canon Character, let us know that you are going on a long LoA as well if possible.   Please do not leave the room host, staff, and your role-play partners hanging.

Lastly, Canon Characters belong to the room and not to the individual player and as such we have in place an understudy program. If the person who plays a Canon Character is not available for long periods of time then someone else may be named as an understudy and/or a replacement.

Last but not least, have fun!

That is why this room was created.
