"Humanity never asked itself if it deserved to survive. Maybe you don't."
--Number Eight

Welcome to Alternate Battlestar Galacitca on IMC. This is a role playing game for the television series produced by Ronald D. Moore and currently airing on the SciFi channel in the United States.

PR Name: Alt_Battlestar_Galactica

THE UNIVERSE

The Children of the Twelve Tribes of Kobol left their homeworld sometime in the pre-historic past and settled on planets in a closely grouped set of star systems that they called the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. A space fairing, technologically advanced civilization flourished on those worlds for thousands of years.

A century ago a race of mechanical servants called the Cylons was created in order to free humanity from the worst, most dirty and dangerous jobs. They became integral to Colonial life and no one suspected that these machines might one day achieve consciousness themselves. No one knows when the first machine reached an understanding of its role in society, but many remember the day that they rose up en-mass to destroy their makers. Cylon nannies strangled the children in their care, military robots turned on their officers... and so began the First Cylon War.

The two sides, humanity and cylon, fought to a bloody and bitter stalemate. An armistice was declared between the two sides, and the cylons were allowed to leave the Twelve Colonies to find a homeworld of their own among the stars. No human saw them for nearly forty years. Humanity again grew complacent and when its mechanical children returned home again it was in a massively successful nuclear attack that killed nearly twenty billion human beings.

The remnants of humanity, 50,000 military and civilian refugees, fled their homes for the stars in search of the mythical home of the Thirteenth Tribe, a place called earth... and are to this day relentlessly pursued by the enemy who apparently wants nothing more than the complete destruction of the human race.

This has all happened before... and it will all happen again.

THE SETTING

The story in the room takes place after the events of the 2003 Miniseries (and the events of the episode "33") but departs from canon at that point.  The rag tag fleets associated with the Battlestars Galactica and Pegesus have combined under the civilian leadership of President Laura Roslin, with joint military command being held by Admiral Helena Cain and Commander William Adama.  Play is open and available on all ships within the setting.
